Inside each and every team, the answers to their own questions are lodged. However, when surrounded by the daily pressures of work, these answers are often lost in the noise and clients simply cannot see the wood for the trees. This often occurs because there just is not enough space inside busy minds to step back far enough to see the bigger picture. Clients simply become too busy to accept help and eventually lose clarity and focus on the original end objective. This is where TBES and their project intervention offering can step in.
A TBES consultant will stand back and take in the bigger picture of a client’s working practices, current (and future) taskings and objectives. The consultant will then assist the client, from an objective and dispassionate vantage point, to see the wood that is often standing right in front of the client but obscured by the ‘noise.’
A former colleague once said; you have two ears and one mouth, use them in that order. Therefore, when a TBES consultant engages with a client they will initially disengage their mouth and engage their ears. By actively listening to what the client is telling them, helps to decipher what is actually being said.
The problem that the client thought they had, often may not in fact be the problem. Certainly the TBES consultant will be a great facilitator to the client, but they will also be so much more; a detective, a codebreaker, a sounding board, a neutral place where a client can speak openly and honestly whilst voicing things that help the client make discoveries about themselves. At TBES we believe this last
point is key, the client must make the discoveries for themselves.
It would be of little use to a client, a TBES consultant simply telling the client what to do, instead our consultant will guide the client through the trees until the client sees the wood, and by seeing the wood, the client can take the necessary steps to ensure the wood remains in view. We at TBES feel that this is the strongest way to make and exit an intervention. It ensures that the work we do with the client is repeatable and long lasting, even after our consultant has withdrawn from the client.
Finally, for the intervention to work it must have the right people on both sides. This is key in any intervention. There has not only to be a connection, but a connection that fosters a high trust relationship. An atmosphere that promotes honest exchanges of views (without fear of a clients’ dirty laundry being aired in public), and the knowledge that the person receiving the intervention is heard.
All TBES consultants are trained in Lean Six Sigma, Active Listening and Neuro Linguistic Programming (to name but a few techniques). This ensures that all our consultants are capable of building high trust relationships with our clients which allows the honest transfer of information and views.
